Sturt’s Desert Pea (Swainsona Formosa)

Did You Know?

The Sturt Desert Pea grows to about ten centimetres long in groups on short, erect stems, diagonally from the main stem.

South Australia

Plant

  • Broad beans, cabbage, cauliflower, endive and radish
  • Seedlings of salvia, snapdragon, phlox and calendula
  • Bare rooted roses, fruit trees and deciduous trees

Care

  • Water seedlings fortnightly with Seasol
  • Give roses a good start with Plants Plus Rose Food
  • Control caterpillars on cabbages, broccoli and cauliflower with Dipel

Prune

  • Dead, diseased and misplaced branches from ornamental trees
  • Tip prune pansies and violas for a dense flowering display
  • Autumn flowering perennials like asters
